Bridge Day is Back!

After a two-year hiatus, Bridge Day is back! On Saturday, October 15, the New River Gorge Bridge will close to vehicle traffic for West Virginia’s biggest one-day festival.

Thousands of visitors will head to Fayette County to walk across the bridge, take in the sites and watch BASE jumpers hurl themselves into the New River Gorge. Never been to Bridge Day? Check out some fun facts about the festival below!

  • BASE jumpers descend 876 feet from the bridge to the banks of the New River below. 
  • In 2019, 303 BASE jumpers made a total of 709 jumps throughout the day. 
  • Rapellers also hang from below the bridge each year.
  • Nearly 100,000 visitors attended Bridge Day in 2019.

If you are heading to Bridge Day this year, you’ll want to stock up on snacks before you go. Be sure to stop at your local Little General store before you head out, or you can visit our location right off Route 19 in Fayetteville while you make your way to the bridge!
