Road Trip Musts Round II: Southwestern WV

Now that warmer weather is here, it’s time to hit the road! 

This month, we’re featuring some must-see Little General Stores locations along US-119 near Logan, West Virginia. Whether you’re headed to Chief Logan State Park for a weekend or road-tripping to Water Ways water park to cool off on a hot summer afternoon, you can count on LG to supply all the travel necessities you need.

Water Ways (25 minute drive)

LG Store: Nellis Cir, Ridgeview, WV 25169

Grab your sunscreen and make a splash at Water Ways Water Park and Amphitheater in Julian, West Virginia. With five water slides, a lazy river, Kiddy Island, and multiple pools, this destination has provided southern West Virginia with summer fun since 1988. After a day in the sun, enjoy live performances at Water Ways’ new amphitheater.

Kanawha State Forest and Little Creek Park (30-40 minute drive)

LG Store: 30 Ramsey Rd, Danville, WV 25053

Lace up your hiking boots and breathe in the spring air on any of West Virginia’s incomparable hiking trails throughout the state. Located just seven miles outside the capital city of Charleston, Kanawha State Forest offers more than 25 miles of hiking and biking trails. More outdoor fun also awaits at Little Creek Park in South Charleston, which features a disc golf course and a soap box derby racing facility, along with other park amenities. 

Be sure to stop by this local LG location, just a 20 minute drive away from the heart of the park, to grab some snacks for the trail. 

Hatfield-McCoy Trails (7 minutes from Welcome Center)

LG Store: Dingess Street, Logan, WV

Headed to Hatfield-McCoy territory? Great choice! Logan County boasts two of the original Hatfield-McCoy trail systems, including Bearwallow Trail System, located near downtown Logan, and Rockhouse Trail System, near Man. In addition to ATVs, the Bearwallow Trail System is open to ORVs, UTVs, and off-road motorcycles. Before you pick up your trail pass and souvenirs at the Country Roads Byway Visitors Center in Logan, make a pit stop at this downtown LG Store and grab a sub from Subway. 

SkyZone Trampoline Park

Little General Store: 4008 Malden Dr, Charleston, WV 25306

For rainy days (or for those more inclined to an indoor spring adventure!), Sky Zone Trampoline Park offers indoor trampoline parks featuring freestyle bouncing, dodgeball, fitness programs and more! 

Chief Logan State Park

Little General Store: 97 Dingess St, Logan, WV 25601 (9 minute drive)

No matter your reason for spring road tripping, Chief Logan State Park offers amenities for all. With lodging, campgrounds, hiking and biking trails throughout its 4,000-acres, not only does this park have it all, but it is located near trailheads of the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System, making the park an ideal stay along the way.
