At Little General Stores, we want you to know that your continued support matters more than ever.
It’s no secret that fuel prices have been on the rise across the nation. There are a number of factors at play, from increased consumer demand as Americans return to their workplaces to the recent spike linked to the United States’ sanctions on Russian fuel and oil following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine this month.
Like you, we’re adjusting to these shifts in cost. That’s why this month, we’re sharing some tips to help you make the most of your mileage.

Take care of your vehicle
Make sure your tires are filled to the appropriate psi. Be sure to check your tires before traveling and after a significant dip in temperatures. Tires can often lose pressure with colder weather. If you don’t already have a tire pressure gauge, consider investing in one from your local auto parts retailers for around $3-10.
Change your oil as needed and in between services, make sure your oil level is within your vehicle’s preferred range. Remember: Tire and oil health greatly impact your vehicle’s performance and mileage, but if properly maintained, your car won’t need to overcompensate.
Keep cruisin’
When you’re on the road, make sure you’re keeping your eye on the speedometer and using cruise control when you’re able. You can increase your miles per gallon by driving a consistent speed while traveling. Aim to travel at slower speeds so you can avoid harsh braking and takeoffs that use extra fuel, too.
Take the road (that might be) less traveled. Today, we have instant access to GPS from our mobile devices. Apps like Google Maps have incorporated options for users to take routes that are deemed the “most fuel efficient” for their journey. While the travels may take you on a nontraditional route, you’ll likely be traveling at a more consistent speed on flatter terrain.
Plan ahead
It pays off to be prepared. Instead of making multiple unnecessary trips, plan to tackle all of your errands at once. By planning your travels ahead of time, you can conserve gas and prevent making extra, unnecessary trips.
Consider an alternative method of transit. If your destination is within walking or biking distance, consider skipping the car ride altogether. We recognize that this is not a feasible option for everybody and encourage everyone to use the transportation that best suits their unique situation.
We hope that these tips help you in the weeks and months to come. Again, thanks for choosing LG Stores!
