Spooky Attractions to Visit in West Virginia

It’s October! That means it’s the time of the year for frights and spooks. If you find yourself this Halloween season looking for a bit of a scare, you’ve come to the right place. Here we will list a few top frightening attractions you can visit traveling West Virginia.

Fright Nights WV

A haunted house like no other, this attraction brings 6 insanely scary experiences you can visit yourself. They have expanded this year, not only staying at The Resort at Glade Springs, but have also taken over the fields and barn. You can visit their Facebook Page to learn more about all the experiences. Tickets are only $25 and that includes all the attractions! A portion of every ticket is donated to The United Way of Southern WV, so get yourself scared and support a great cause. Open rain or shine, weekends in October 6:30-10:30.

Lake Shawnee – The Darkest CarnEVIL Event!

Are you ready for the scariest carnival ever? (No, we aren’t talking about Candem Park…) Grab your tickets for the Dark Carnival over at Lake Shawnee, where they have thrills, chills, and attractions to entertain the entire family! Take pictures of the haunted abandoned rides and landscape before sunset. When nighttime comes, you can walk around the park grounds, or sit around a campfire and listen to ghost stories. Lake Nightmare is a haunted house/trail/maze where you can also try your hand! Pick up tickets at the event or online.

Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum Haunted House

“In the halls of what once was the area’s most reputable hospital, a demented doctor has brought his patients’ nightmares to life. Society’s undesirable souls have been abandoned in the dark recesses of this once safe haven. Their sole purpose is to serve the good doctor and his sadistic experiments. Scratching and clawing their way through their new existence, patients succumb to delirious visions before becoming one of the doctor’s creations. Can you survive a journey into the Asylum, where the veil between realities is twisted.”  http://www.theasylumwv.com/

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. We’re sure you’ve heard of this place before. Garnering almost 70k likes on Facebook alone, it’s one of West Virginia’s biggest haunted houses nestled in Weston, WV. Open Thursday through Sunday, starting September 27th-November 2nd. Tickets go on sale at 6 o’clock at their ticket booth, and they are always looking for more actors! Visit their Facebook Page or Website to learn more.

This Halloween season, always be safe when you are visiting these awesome attractions- they aren’t for the weak hearted. Also, be careful of kids as you are driving during Trick-or-Treat hours! Forgot to stock up on candy to give out? Don’t settle for the old apples and oranges sitting on your counter, head to your nearest Little General and pick up some of the good stuff (King size candy bars, please!).
